  • Applicants must not be Japanese nationals.
  • Only those with a PhD are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants must be under 49 years old.
  • Any of the Japanese host institutions must send them an acceptance letter.
  • Applicants must be able to communicate in Japanese or English.
  • In addition, the candidate must not have previously worked or studied in Japan.
  • Applicants must be working in their home countries.
  • Additionally, after finishing the fellowship, candidates must return to their native country.
