PhD and Postdoctoral Position in Switzerland at University of Fribourg 2024 is open now. The Zebrafish research group, led by Prof. Anna Jazwinska at the Department of Biology, University of Fribourg, Switzerland, is actively seeking a dedicated PhD student and a Postdoc with a keen interest in Regenerative Biology in Zebrafish. These positions are available for projects centered on “Heart and muscle regeneration in zebrafish.”
Zebrafish stands out as an exceptional vertebrate model system for regenerative research, thanks to its genetic adaptability and straightforward maintenance. However, the underlying reasons for variations in the regeneration response among adult vertebrates remain unclear. Our primary objective is to unravel the mechanisms that enable adult zebrafish and other fish species to naturally regenerate complex tissues with remarkable precision.
Aims of Project
- Identify intrinsic genetic programs and external signals supporting regenerative plasticity.
- Generate transgenic fish lines for experimentation.
- Apply CRISPR/Cas9 technology to manipulate genetic factors.
- Employ pharmacological approaches to investigate regeneration.
- Conduct transcriptome analysis to understand gene expression.
- Utilize advanced imaging techniques for in-depth study.
- Establish a conceptual and molecular understanding of natural regeneration in lower vertebrates.
- Build a foundation for advancements in regenerative medicine.
