Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship in UK by British Council Scotland 2024

  • Research projects must be related to Arts and Humanities, with at least 50% of the project focused on an arts or humanities discipline for multidisciplinary PhDs.
    • Applications from multidisciplinary research projects outside of arts and humanities are encouraged.
    • Applicants must be registered at or have graduated from a non-UK university in 2025.
    • ECRs must complete the program within one year of receiving their PhD award notification, with a possible extension to two years in exceptional cases.
    • The program is open to PhD candidates and early career researchers (ECRs) with a focus on environmental arts and humanities.
    • PhD candidates and ECRs will have access to networks and resources of a host Higher Education Institute (HEI) in Scotland and work with an academic mentor.
    • Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a PhD program or have been awarded a PhD in Arts & Humanities topic areas, as defined by the AHRC.
