Writers who are imaginative enough to promote a company’s product or service to their target audience are a need in any workplace. In addition, many corporations are paying creative writers to create, produce, and direct high-quality commercials for their businesses and goods. Everywhere you go, there’s a place for a good storyteller.

That being the case, why can’t a budding novelist acquire a scholarship to further his education? There is absolutely no explanation for this! As a result, we have looked into scholarships that can help you make the most of your time in college.

List of Creative Writing Scholarships:

Let’s get right down to business, shall we? There is a creative writing class you’re taking in school or you’re going to take in college after you finish high school. You may be wondering, at this point, whether there are college scholarships available for creative writers.

There are, in fact, quite a few of them. On the other hand, saving money may not be worth your effort. The greatest fifteen (15) scholarships for creative writers are listed below. In no particular sequence, these are:

1. The Horror Writers Association (HWA) Scholarship:

The HWA Scholarship is organized by the HWA. The purpose of this scholarship for horror authors is to aid in the professional growth of its members.

This scholarship is open to anybody, and there are no restrictions on who may apply. It’s available to anybody who wants to apply. This scholarship programme does not require that you be a member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA). However, you must submit a horror tale for the scholarship application.

The HWA Scholarship is worth $2500 and may be used for up to two years after it is awarded for an authorized writing course.

2. Student Arts Scholarship:

  • Students pursuing a first bachelor’s degree in the arts may apply for this award. Students wishing to pursue a college or university study at any institution may apply for this creative writing award. The art student, on the other hand, must be a resident of region 7W to be eligible.
  • You may use the scholarship money to pay for things like tuition, housing and board, textbooks, and other classroom expenses that are paid directly to the school. The scholarship has a total value of $1,500. Students may only win a maximum of four Student Arts scholarships throughout their lifetime.
  • Students who intend to attend an authorized college or university full-time and pursue a degree in the arts are eligible to apply for this creative writing award. At the time of application, you must be a resident of Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, or Wright County in Benton County. You must also be a US citizen or a permanent resident of the United States in order to participate.

3. Michael Steinberg Fellowship for Creative Non-fiction:

During the winter residency/spring semester, a creative non-fiction writer may apply for the Michael Steinberg Fellowship for Creative Non-fiction at the Solstice Low-Residency MFA Program in Creative Writing.

A $1,000 stipend will be given to the students who obtain the fellowship for their first semester’s tuition. The quality of a writer’s writing sample is taken into consideration while awarding this scholarship.

However, if you want to be considered for this fellowship, you’ll need to apply early. In addition, awardees will receive notice letters in November from the scholarship board. Awards should be given immediately after acceptance, and applications should be made during the winter/spring term.

4.  Lycoming College Creative Writing Scholarship:

There are two requirements to be eligible for the Lycoming Creative Writing Scholarship: a major in creative writing, and a short story no more than 10 pages in length.

It is also required that students who receive the scholarship complete the first year of college and maintain an “A”- or better in the course. After the first year of attendance, scholarship recipients must enroll in a creative writing class and earn at least a ‘A-‘ in that workshop in order to have their scholarships renewed. Lycoming College’s creative writing award is worth up to $3,000 in total.

5.  Hope College Creative Writing Award:

For high school graduates who plan to attend Hope College in the autumn of their freshman year. However, to be eligible for this award, you must be a high school senior. There is no need to major or minor in English. Prize recipients must, however, enroll in at least one creative writing course each academic year and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in order to be eligible for the award.

In the meantime, you must submit a 500-word essay, a letter of reference, and ten pages of original creative work to be considered for this award.
